                I do agree that our generation is probably more apathetic than the past generations. Many more distractions and other topics surround the news. This makes it harder for today’s generations to keep track of the topics of what should be important to us as citizens in our country. In order to change this we need to show a larger interest in the politics and what we should be worrying about even when the media decides that how much weight Brittany put on is more important than the fact that our country may have been severely threatened today. I believe that the only reason the news shows some of the meaningless information it does is because they know that we are interested in watching that although I think many of the younger ages such as middle and high school tend to watch the news for the latest pop culture as well.             I do think that our generation is more concerned with athletes than the senate or our role in the world. The media may be to blame partially for this I do not know at what point the media decided to show more pop culture than politics but whenever they did decide to do this they realized that athletes and celebrities brought the ratings up more than the latest senate vote. Of course it is as much out fault for choosing to watch the pop culture over the politics in the first place.            I think that most of the population does not vote because they do not think their vote will count, and there is not enough time for them to vote when they have to do so many other things. One way to help solve the belief their vote doesn’t count it is to get rid of the Electoral College so that the president is elected off popular vote only that way every vote will count. The time factor could be solved by leaving the poles open for longer maybe have an election week instead of just a day when many people may have several things going on that particular day.
